Off-site Manufacturing - House of Lords Report

Off-site Manufacturing - House of Lords Report

Taunton Fabrications are very pleased to see the publication of the Report by the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee into off-site manufacture for construction.

Over several years we have developed and invested in our own off-site assembly facilities and you will see from the various video's on our website how we use that facility to give us and our clients a competitive advantage. The Report talks about smart construction and clear leadership from both clients and industry - something that we support whole-heartedly. Taunton Fabrications Production Director, David Phelps, said;

All contracts we now undertake look at how best we can include as much pre-assembly work as possible. By using the facilities within our own factory, instead of having to assemble on-site, means that we can work more safely and with less damage to our work. There is also a huge reduction in wastage, snagging and the time we need to spend on-site in fitting our work. What used to take weeks to install can now be done in days, but it does present other challenges regarding transport, logistics and lift plans.
